School of Nursing Song

A song to thee, O School of mine,
Gracious, willing teacher.
My heart reveres thy work divine,
Great and noble teacher.
To minister the suffer'rs needs,
To bring the weary rest and ease,
To follow where the Lamp still leads,
These works are thine, O Hackley.
Our better selves you brought to light,
Earnest, faithful teacher.
And taught us human ills to fight,
Stern, inspiring teacher.
Our hands we give in service now,
Our heads before thee humbly bow,
Our hearts record the solemn vow,
Of loyalty to Hackley.
Our duties learned, we must depart
From thee, honored teacher.
Thy name is writ in every heart,
Noble, generous teacher.
You freely gave a golden store
Of healing art, and nursing lore:
The veil from Ignorance you tore
With wise, firm hands, O Hackley!
Thy guiding care we leave behind,
Patient, faithful teacher.
And venture forth our fate to find,
Dear, remembered teacher.
Though some of us must cross the sea,
The others wander far from thee,
A golden shrine our memory.
Shall raise to thee, O Hackley.
