Athletic Medicine and Rehabilitation

June 2002
From the Editor Mike Braid, M.S. E. D. , A.T., C.

May is gone and summer is supposed to be just around the corner. I believe this spring has been more like fall or maybe even winter. As the athletic season winds down for the 2001-2002 academic year I wanted to thank you for trusting in us to provide care to your athletes and in allowing us to share with you, information we feel is important in caring for the athletic/active population of West Michigan.

In this issue you will find some of the common medical terminology used in sports medicine. Also, we have included articles on the grading of injuries to sprains and strains as well as how soft tissue injuries heal themselves. This information should be useful as you care for those muscle and ligament injuries that always take time to heal.

As always read on and enjoy the summer months ahead.
