Dr. A. Scott Lachniet, M.D.


Dr. A. Scott Lachniet is a Board Certified orthopedic Surgeon who has been practicing in Muskegon since 1981. He is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where he ran cross-country. Dr. Lachniet completed medical school at the University of Michigan where he also served his orthopedic residency. Prior to coming to Muskegon, he was Chief of Orthopedics at Sawyer Air Force Base, United States Air Force Hospital. He then went into private practice in Port Huron, MI prior to coming to Muskegon.

Dr. Lachniet is in practice with Drs. Herman Hoeksema, Martin Pallante and Stephen Fisher. He serves as team physician for Muskegon Community College and as a consultant to numerous area high schools. Along with Dr. Hoeksema, Dr. Lachniet was very instrumental in bringing Sports Medicine into Muskegon and started working directly with the schools and providing certified athletic trainer coverage for athletic events in the community. He has also served as Chief of Staff at Hackley Hospital.

Dr. Lachniet, his wife Donna, and their children, David and Andrea are active in sports and involved in several community activities. His hobbies include running, bicycling, and skiing. Due to his love of sports, his active lifestyle, and his knowledge of orthopedics and sports medicine, he is a tremendous asset to our medical and physically active community.
