Athletic Medicine and Rehabilitation
Jon Romkema, A.T.,C.
Jon is a Certified Athletic Trainer at Hackley Rehab & Sports Medicine. He is a native of Grand Rapids, MI. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University in 1987 with a major in Physical Education and an emphasis in Athletic Training.
Prior to joining Hackley, Jon was the Head Athletic Trainer at Marian College in Wisconsin from 1988 to 1989. He assists in the supervision of the Community Outreach Program. Jon has served as the Athletic Trainer at Muskegon Community College, and has been an adjunct faculty member at MCC since 1989. He served as an adjunct faculty member at Grand Valley State University from 1991 to 1993, and continues as an Approved Clinical Instructor (ACI) in the Athletic Training Education Program. Previously, Jon served as the athletic trainer for Muskegon Heights High School from 1991 to 1994 and North Muskegon High School from 1995 to 1997.
Jon holds many certifications from the American Red Cross and has been an instructor with them since 1989. He has been instrumental in the development of the Sports Safety Training courses taught by the Hackley Rehab & Sports Medicine staff in conjunction with the American Red Cross. He is a board member of the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society where he is a co-chair on the fundraising committee.
Jon resides in North Muskegon with his wife Kathy, their two children, Patrick and Megan, and two Rat Terriers, Maggie and Coco. His hobbies include golf, computers, walking his dogs, and spending time with family and friends. Jon has played an important role in developing Hackley's Community Outreach Program and is a valuable member of the Hackley Rehab & Sports Medicine team.
